Improving Power Quality by a Four-Wire Shunt Active Power Filter: A Case Study

This paper presents the use of a three-phase four-wire shunt active power filter to improve quality in Department Industrial Electronics large enterprise from Romania. The specificity is given by predominant existence single-phase consumers (such as personal computers, printers, lighting and AC equipment). In order identify indicators ways them, an A-class analyzer was used record electrical quantities energy parameters point common coupling (PCC) with nonlinear loads for 27 h. analysis shows that, PCC, three goals must be achieved: compensation distortion power, reactive load unbalance. By using conceived three-leg filter, controlled through indirect current control method original variant, at supply side very much improved. proposed algorithm, prescribed obtained sum loss provided DC voltage equivalent unbalanced load. performance associated each objective presented analyzed. results show that all meet specific standards regulations prove validity solution.
